ACBS organizes 1st Asian Billiard Sports Championship
The 1st Asian Billiard Sports Championship, organized by the Asian Confederation of Billiards Sports (ACBS), will be held from September 24 to October 2 in Al Fujairah, the United Arab Emirates. Over 200 players from 25 countries are expected to compete in 11 disciplines during the nine-day event which will be staged at the Concorde Al-Fujairah Hotel, which also doubles as the accommodation venue for the players. The first of its kind tournament will feature events in Snooker Single Men (15 Reds), Snooker Team Men, Snooker Single Men (6 Reds) and Snooker Single Women (6 Reds). Other disciplines to be competed in includes English Billiards Men (100 Points Format), Carom One Cushion, Carom Three Cushion, 9 Ball Pool Men, 9 Ball Pool Women, 9 Ball Pool Double and Chinese 8 Ball. The tournament is aimed at furthering the development of the sport in the continent as well as to help the up and coming talents gathered the needed exposure. ACBS President Mubarak Hamad Al Khayarin said, “We are happy to stage this first of its kind competition at this time. Our sport has attained great heights over the last few years and we believe that there are so much more for to achieve. This tournament is part of our vision to develop the game further and to ensure that more talents are produced from the continent. “I believe that it will be one of the most competitive events we’ve organized and I have no doubt that the players are going to give a very good account of themselves.” Winners in the different disciplines shall be awarded with medals and trophies.
