The last match of the day was one of the most interesting matches with a nail-biting finish where host-nation favourite and Qatar No.1 Ali Alobaidli ousted 2018 World Team Snooker Champion and World 6Red Champion Passakorn Suwannawat by winning the deciding frame 4-3. Ali gave a fabulous start to the match by winning the first two frames against his worthy opponent. Though Ali went down when Passakorn secured three frames in a row but Ali made a remarkable comeback and gave a tough fight to Passakorn and took the sixth frame on the black ball to set the decider. In the decider, Ali completely dominated and scored firmly on each opportunity he got to gradually oust Passakorn from the stage of Last-16. Ali is now scheduled to play against Aung Phyo of Myanmar who defeated Ali Roshanikiya of Iran by winning a straight set of frames 4-0 in the Last-16 knockout round. There wasn’t any big break but Aung continued to score at regular intervals to maintain his lead in all frames which helped him in confirming his berth for the quarter-finals.
