After round robin stage, Qatar player Ali Alobaidli was placed as 16th seed and schedule to play against top-seed, Manan Chandra of India. Earlier it appeared easy for Manan to win as he was leading 2-1, but Ali shown his grit to win and brilliantly pulled up four frames to stun top-seed Manan Chandra. Once the score was 2-2, Ali turned into completely a different player and scored two breaks of 56 and 47 to take lead 4-2. After that it was not so difficult for him to defeat Manan and he succeeded. In another match, Thanawat Thirapongpaeboon of Thailand enjoyed his performance throughout the match. After losing first frame, he did not allow Laxman Rawat to come close and kept scoring in each frame. Infact he crafted a break of 85 points also in 4th frame.
