The covid-19 pandemic had halted many activities and so the sports activities were badly impacted also.   With that, the game of Billiards and Snooker were halted since March 2020, which is now back after a gap of 18 months with the 36th Asian Snooker Championship 2021.   The championship will be played at Al-Messila, a luxury collection resort in Doha, Qatar from tomorrow onwards for the next 5 days where 42 players from 19 countries are participating. 15 referees from 8 countries have also been invited to officiate the matches.   The contingents of all these countries have arrived and since today morning, they have all were busy with their practice session. Amongst them, the defending champion Pankaj Advani from India, Babar Masih of Pakistan, Habib Subah from Bahrain, Tam Yun Fung and Khamis Alobaidli from the host nation Qatar were seen during their respective practice sessions.   Later in the evening, the Players’ and Referees’ meeting took place where all were apprised about the new normals too due to this pandemic along with the rules of the championship.
