On the first day of Asian Team Snooker championship 2018, the team from China having two young boys, World Under-21 champion Wu Yize (14 years) and Pang Junxu (18 years) dominated by winning their both the league stage matches against Syria and India-1. In first match the Chinese team took 2 frames lead when Syrian boys Yazan Alhadad and Abdulkarim Maksoud played some brilliant shots and crafted frame winning break of 57 points. Same flow was continued by Yazan in the next frame where he played well against Pang Junxu to bring back the match at level. Tough the deciding frame went towards a close finish and in the end Wu Yize controlled well to step ahead of Abdulkarim by 11 points and China won 3-2. The Chinese team met World Cup winning team India-1 in third session and defeated them in straight set of frames 3-0. The host nation Qatar has sent 2 teams and on opening day, where Qatar-1 comprises of Ahmed Saif, Ali Alobaidli and Abdul Mohsen won their matches 3-0 against Vietnam and 3-2 against Palestine, Qatar-2 (Mohsen Bukshaisha, Khamis Alobaidli and Mhanna Alobaidli) won one and lost another. After losing to India-1 (0-3), team Qatar-2 defeated team Syria 3-0.
